J.D. Brinkman completed the Warren County Career Center Adult Education Heavy Equipment program in July 2010 and was hired by ENC Services in Blue Ash. He visited with current Heavy Equipment students in both high school and adult programs recently to talk to them about career opportunities and give them some advice for making the most of their school experience.
“The most important thing I learned at the Career Center was to be safe,” he said. “There are so many things to know about safety training, and the slightest little difference can mean a broken finger or something worse.”
He also advised the students to get as much time on the machines as possible and take every opportunity to operate the equipment. “Get a good feel for the equipment here,” he said. “It all carries over to any machine you might be operating for work.”
Mr. Brinkman said he was very well prepared for his career through the program. “If you put yourself into it, you will get a lot out of it,” he said about the program. “The teachers are great here, and when I did my internship at ENC, they asked me how soon they could hire me and start paying me because I already had the know-how to do the job.”
