Grad 1st to Earn 2 Certifications in Adult Diploma Program
Ryan Ray, of Trenton, is the first Adult Diploma Program graduate at the Warren County Career Center to earn two certifications along with his high school diploma. Ray is an experienced welder, but lacked the credentials to advance in his field. He decided to do something about it, and enrolled in the program at WCCC after taking his academic courses through Butler Tech’s Aspire program.

He worked full time, and took classes at night, driving from home in Trenton to work in Blue Ash, to class in Lebanon four days a week. He had support from his wife, Melissa, and children Macie, 15, and Ryan, 12.

“We didn’t see him much for about six months,” Melissa said. “I am very proud of him. He’s been very busy, and I had two kids to run around without his help. I am so proud and happy he finished.”

Ray earned MIG and TIG welding certifications, and he worked with some of the other students in the class who were struggling. When his company was hiring, he helped his fellow students get jobs there. Now, he has a bright future in front of him, and he might even become a part-time welding instructor, too.
