Information on Delays and Closures at WCCC
The WCCC Superintendent will confer with home school superintendents, Secondary Education Director, Adult Education Director, and Director of Faculties & Operations to make decisions regarding delay or cancelation of school due to inclement weather.
Our primary concern is for the safety of our students when inclement weather is imminent. We serve a very large area of six school districts, some rural and some suburban. Weather may affect one district and not other districts. High school students are advised to follow their home high school’s delay or closure schedule when schools are delayed or closed due to weather.
Decision on the closure or delay of WCCC’s high school classes is based on surrounding school districts’ decisions. If a majority of WCCC partner districts (Franklin, Kings, Lebanon, Little Miami, Springboro, Waynesville) are closed, WCCC will likely close, depending on timing of the announcements. However, if students from a partner district are already on a bus on the way to WCCC when closures at other districts are announced, some staff will be here. Delays are more difficult to call, due to the rarity of all six districts calling the same delay. Again, our high school students follow their home school schedules in these cases of weather-related closures and delays.
WCCC Adult Education holds classes in the daytime and evening. Separate decisions are made for delays and closures by the Director, based on safety of our students traveling to class.
WCCC announces all closings and delays on our website, MyWCCC.org, and on our Facebook and Twitter sites. Most area TV and radio stations are notified, and WCCC has a calling system to notify students via call or text message. If WCCC has your correct contact information, you should be automatically entered on the call list. If you are not on the list, please contact us at WCCCInfo@mywccc.org and we will connect you!
