WCCC Class of 2000 Alumna Stephanie Brown has had an interesting career path since her graduation from Waynesville High School and WCCC. She is a Staff Coordinator with Bust A Buck Deer Lure, and also a sponsored athlete with HHA Sports, Inc., and a freelance writer and social media blogger in the outdoors/hunting industry. She currently lives in Franklin.

“When I started at WCCC I was in the Computerized Business Management program with Mrs. Leis,” she said. “My junior year I competed in the BPA nationals for typing after winning regionals and placing 4th in the state of Ohio. I was the only student to participate that year in an individual event. My senior year I transitioned to Mrs. Henz’ class where I participated in the (Marketing) Co-op program.”

Her senior year co-op job was as a secretary at Mound Steel. She said that all of her studies in business, her work experience and her participation in Business Professionals of America helped her with college placement. She earned an Associate Degree in Communications at Miami University Middletown, and then had a career in business, including managing several Verizon stores and working as a project manager for Quality Associates, Inc., a contract packaging company in the Cincinnati area with locations across the US. Her sponsor, HHA Sports, is a sight company in the outdoors/hunting industry.

“My experience at WCCC was great,” she said. “I still remember the day of mock interviews. That really helped out and I got some positive feedback, which helped with actual job interviews later on. The real-life job experiences I had during my senior year prepared me well for my career.”

She has published magazine articles and does blogging and social media advertising in the outdoors industry. She recently traveled to South Africa where she represented a few of the companies that sponsor her.

“It was a humbling experience traveling to South Africa,” she said. “I got to go somewhere that most people cannot travel to. I was able to meet the people there and see how they live. You learn that there are other problems in the world that we don’t have here.”

Stephanie works at outdoor expos, talking about some of the products of her sponsors, and she also participates in a mentorship program with archers, helping them with sights for their bows.
