CompTIA A+ and Network+ are vendor-neutral, which means they are not tied to one company's products. They show up by name in IT job postings, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that a high school diploma plus certifications like these can qualify you for support work.

Take It Apart. Put It Back.

You can't secure a system you don't understand. So you start inside the machine and inside the network, building and breaking things until you know how they actually work.

A student configures network equipment in the WCCC cyber lab
  • Building, upgrading, and repairing PCs
  • Installing and configuring operating systems
  • Command line and system administration basics
  • IP addressing, routing, and switching
  • Cabling, wireless, and network setup
  • Diagnosing problems and working a help desk ticket
  • Security fundamentals and safe practice
  • Web traffic and analytics with Google tools

In the labYou get workstations and computers you can tear down to bare parts and rebuild, plus switches, routers, and racks to wire up and configure.

Why WCCC

You work on real systems

You'll run the student help desk at WCCC, fixing and repairing Chromebooks for other students. Real tickets, real devices, and someone waiting on you to finish.

Keep your home school

You're still part of your home high school. Graduate with your class, and keep playing sports, going to prom, and showing up for homecoming.

Steady demand

About 48,700 computer support openings are projected each year through 2035, nearly all from people moving on or retiring. BLS expects that specific role to shrink 3% as automation handles routine tickets, while IT occupations overall grow 6% and pay a median of $109,470.

Where This Can Lead

This program is a head start, not the finish line. When you graduate, you'll have real options:

Start working

Help desk, IT support, or field technician work at a company, hospital, school district, or shop

Keep training

College or technical school, or stacking more certifications like CompTIA Security+ and Cisco

Keep building

BLS notes support techs often move up into network administration, systems work, and security analysis

Take a Look Around

Applications open December 2.
