Cybersecurity senior Coda Urton, Lebanon, is in the process of enlisting in the US Air Force. After she goes through the Military Entrance Processing Stations, she plans to further her education in cybersecurity through a career in the USAF.
“Over the summer, I decided that enlisting in the United States Air Force would be an opportunity of a lifetime,” she said. “I could be in a career field that I love with amazing benefits for myself and my country.”
She said her experience in the Cybersecurity program has given her the opportunity to make sure she was getting into something she enjoyed and in which she could be successful. She plans to spend her career in the US Airforce in either Cyber Warfare Operations or Cyber Systems Operations, and earn a bachelor degree in the cyber field. After retiring from the military, she would like to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigations or work as an Air Force civilian.
“The Cyber program has given me the potential to do something worth my time and efforts,” she said. “There is a never-ending list of why I enjoy the Cybersecurity field. It is a constantly-changing, fast-paced environment and that makes it more difficult to become bored. One of the main reasons I love cybersecurity is that I will always be able to help those that don’t understand computers. From a young age, I have been able to comprehend how computers work and how to fix them, and Cybersecurity is just the next step up for me.”
