City of Springboro is October VCP

City of Springboro valued partners

City of Springboro Assistant City Manager Greg Shackelford and Business Retention Specialist Nick Motto are integral partners in connecting WCCC to the Springboro business community. WCCC Workforce Development Coordinator Yvonne Kaszubowski nominated the City of Springboro as a Valued Community Partner for their referrals and connections of area business and industry which have employee staffing and training needs to WCCC services. One specific example is how WCCC was connected with Accelevation in Springboro by Shackelford and Motto, a partnership that resulted in a summer internship for three WCCC Welding students in between their junior and senior year.

“What an honor it is to be recognized as valued community partners,” Greg Shackelford said.  “Yvonne has been an energetic and enthusiastic resource partner for the City of Springboro since we started working together in 2018. The partnership is mutually beneficial as it certainly takes two organizations working together to make a team. Nick is our initial point of contact for the businesses in the community, and he and I typically work together to go out for regular visits with many of our small, medium and larger businesses.  In many cases, we hear similar concerns from our businesses about the shortage of labor, and workforce available. We will also try to gather enough information to pass along to Yvonne, and other workforce partners in the region to try to assist. Nick and I are just trying to make the connections that can have a positive impact, and add value to our working relationships.”
