Graphic Arts Senior Chosen for Franklin B. Walter Award
Zoe Hill, Springboro, a senior in Graphic Arts & Imaging, was selected for the 2019 Franklin B. Walter Award representing the Warren County Career Center. She thanked WCCC English Instructor Kelly McGhee for being a positive influence in her life.
“I wrote a 50,000-word novel this year, in November, and Mrs. McGhee encouraged and motivated me to complete my goal,” she said. “She has been an incredible influence on me. I fell behind at one point…like, 25,000 words behind, and she helped me realize that I was writing it for myself, my friends, and also for Mrs. McGhee. When I finished it and brought it into class, she cheered loudly for me!”
Zoe has earned 27 industry credentials during her two years at WCCC, is in the Top 10 in the Class of 2019, and is active in Destination Imagination and National Honor Society in Springboro. Her novel, “A Beautiful Little Fool,” is a young adult novel with lots of references to “The Great Gatsby.” She plans to attend the University of Dayton this fall and major in communications with a concentration on journalism. She wants to write for digital media.
“I am really happy that what I do every day is appreciated,” Kelly McGhee said. “It made me happy that she said there was always laughter in my classroom, because my goal for my students is to not only learn, but to have fun and enjoy class.”
